When you try to view a variable's value in a Lua script in Redis, your first thought may be to print the variable out directly with the print() function in Lua. While it's quite straightforward and works fine, you have to note that you won't see the log if the server is running in daemonize mode, because the message generated by print() will be shown in the stdout of your redis-server process. So, if the server is started in daemonize mode, the stdout will be discarded.
