I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
8.2. Web Services Standards
Web Services specifications offer a communication bridge between the heterogeneous computational environments used to develop and host applications. We met them in Chapter 1.
XML is, of course, the root standard for the entire SOA enterprise. All web services standards and several business process modelling standards build on it in some ways. XML is documented in various good textbooks; Harold and Means (2004) is a popular one. The other chief standards are WSDL, SOAP and UDDI. In addition there is a whole family of WSDL-based standards for things such as security, reliable messaging and so on, usually referred to as*. Specifications for these can be found on the W3C site (www.w3.org).
