How much cloud migration work should you undertake as part of your digital transformation? That is a tough question, and one made harder by an often-limited understanding of cloud economics and effective migration strategies. The truth is that results from large-scale cloud migration efforts have too often fallen short of promises and, in many cases, led to surprisingly high investments and drawn-out implementations.1

Successful integration of the cloud into digital and AI transformation requires an approach based on where the value is.2 In other words, which business domains have you decided to prioritize on your digital roadmap and what cloud migration approach – if any – will you require for the existing applications in these domains? A more surgical approach to cloud gets to the value faster.

Reimagine the business domain and underlying tech concurrently

Most of the value the cloud generates comes from increased agility, innovation, and resilience provided to the business rather than a lower-cost hosting replacement for traditional infrastructure as found in a data center.
