The basic elements of usage-centered design, as presented in the preceding chapters, have been applied effectively to problems of widely varying complexity and sophistication in a variety of fields. The same concepts and techniques that have been illustrated with smaller examples along the way apply in much the same manner to much larger problems. In order to illustrate usage-centered design at a somewhat larger and more realistic scale than in the previous examples, we introduce in this chapter a somewhat more substantial application and follow through the entire process of model-driven design, from initial conception through final implementation modeling.
