I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Airlines have traditionally been the poster children for external system connections. Many of the larger airlines use a fairly old operating system called TPF (Transaction Processing Facility) for their reservations systems. Although TPF is fast, it hasn't been very friendly to other operating systems until fairly recently. Airlines have had to resort to custom solutions when connecting to their existing TPF systems.
One airline developed a screen-scraping application that used a combination of TCP sockets, X.25, and a custom network to communicate with TPF.
