It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Application Deployment
You can package Enterprise Java Beans, Java Server Pages, and servlets into a single application file called an Enterprise Archive, or EAR file. The EAR file is, of course, a JAR file with an additional descriptor file describing the JAR files included in the EAR file. The descriptor file must be in the META-INF directory and must be named application.xml.
