Java Meets XML
Although they are different from a technology standpoint, XML and Java share a strange similarity. Many people originally thought XML would mainly be used for displaying data, or at least represent data in a way that would make it easy to display, but now XML is used heavily in server-side applications for data storage and data exchange. Java, of course, got its start as a language for a small handheld device and is now wildly popular for server-side programming.
