I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

表紙の動物は、アフリカの西部と中部に生息する“the ornate monitor lizard”（「華麗な」モニタートカゲ）です。1997年まで、Nile monitor lizard（ナイルモニタートカゲ、Varanus niloticus）の亜種と見なされましたが、その皮膚パターンからVaranus stellatusとVaranus niloticusの両方の多形として分類されています。Nile monitor lizardよりも生息地が狭く、低地の熱帯雨林を好みます。
Ornate monitor lizardは全長1.8～2.1メートルくらいまで成長します。Nile monitor lizardよりも色が鮮やかで、深いオリーブ色の肌に肩から尾にかけて明るい黄色の斑点があります。Monitor lizardは他のトカゲと同様に、筋肉質の強い体と鋭い爪、細長い頭部を持ちます。鼻の上に鼻孔があるため、長い時間、水中にいられます。泳ぎがうまく、山に登ることもできるため、魚、カエル、昆虫、小型哺乳類をエサにしています。
ペットとして飼育されることがありますが、注意すべきことが多く初心者には向きません。尾を引っ張るなどして驚かすと危険ですが、普通に取り扱えば、保育者をエサやりと関連づけて教えることは可能です。
