The Art of Building a Garden City

Garden cities are exemplars of sustainable living, and as such they must

deal with the overwhelming challenge of climate change. It is hard to

overemphasise how climate change affects every aspect of planning

for new and renewed places, from overall location in terms of flood

resilience to the detailed building-scale measures that can help secure

urban cooling or the effective deployment of district heating. We are

already feeling the effects of increased extreme-weather events and the
