Repeating frames of animation requires a lot of the heavy lifting in work when you least expect it. Maybe you need a sequence of blinking lights on an instrument panel or a flickering neon diner sign. Maybe your background features waves crashing rhythmically on a shore. Creating a loop sequence that replays rather than animating each blink, flicker, or crash can save you time and effort. Perhaps the loop is of a textural pattern or a set of eye movements and blinks. You can cut the loop instances in uneven ways to create a slightly randomized look. I routinely use looped bits for minor elements that need not be unique.
