23 Storyboarding + the Animatic

In commercial animation, a written storyline is converted to still images representing the important beats: the storyboard. The storyboard is timed out to dialogue or necessary action speeds to create the animatic, and then fully animated. Procreate Dreams affords us the opportunity to turn storyboards into animatics and into final animations all within the app. This is the art of translating ideas into a blueprint.

Storyboards are a mix of important story beats and the most interesting or appropriate visual representation of those beats.
