Have you ever wanted to step inside a photograph? While this may not be entirely possible, with the help of a large camera obscura, you can get pretty close.

 

A relatively simple device, a camera obscura is a darkened room (or chamber) with a small pinhole in the wall for light to enter and a smooth surface (such as a wall or a canvas) opposite the hole. Whatever is going on outside of the room will display itself upside-down on the smooth surface of the room.
