You change the topic. “How often do all the agile teams get together?” It’s your turn to make everyone laugh.

“Never,” says Aidan.

“Not often enough,” says Ash.

“What’s this I hear about teams competing against each other?” you ask. Everyone now jumps in and says how wrong and messed up the incentives are. Your table is creating so much noise that everyone else in the cafeteria turns around to see what’s happening.

You wave to them to indicate that everything is okay. You overhear someone say, “Never mind those guys: the agile teams are a noisy bunch. Just watch; they’ll be getting out their sticky notes any minute now.”
