Mucky-Muck Obstructions: Navigating the Corporate Obstacle Course

Middle managers link teams, systems, and processes together to produce results. This requires working with many different people and under varied circumstances, which, in turn, can produce conflict, contradiction, and chaos—also known as mucky-muck. Mucky-muck causes a great deal of teeth-gnashing frustration, often reflected in comments such as:

  • Why is it so hard to get anything done around here?
  • Why did I waste my time?
  • Why wasn't I told that up front?
  • It takes forever to get a decision made in this company.
