THE LIGHT FOR THIS LOVELY BRIDE is about 40 feet away from her, camera right. Out there with the tulips. It is a raw, hard light, no umbrellas or diffusion allowed from that distance, due somewhat to power reasons but mostly because an umbrella-ed (now there’s a new word!) light from that distance ain’t really gonna look any different than a hard light. Not much, anyway. The further away that source gets from your subject, the bigger the swatch of diffusion you need to get any softness or play out of it.
But here’s the good news. The hard light in the garden works okay. Take a look. It is bright and directional. ...
