Glossary

Ambiguity
Inexactness; being open to more than one interpretation.
BBL
Abbreviation for barrel, the unit of volume used in brewing. One beer barrel equals 31 gallons.
COGS
Cost of Goods Sold.
Billboard Distribution
The strategy of distribution that is not primarily focused on generating profit, but instead is curated, in very limited form, with the purpose of driving additional taproom sales after gaining exposure of the brand at an offsite location.
Daily Report
A report filled out by the closing leader that outlines daily sales, any specific people who came into the brewery, any issues that need to be fixed, and so on.
Distribution model
Beer sales that are made offsite from the brewery (i.e. bars, restaurants). The laws regarding beer distribution vary from state to state.
Employee Engagement
The extent in which employees engage within a company, including high morale, commitment to their job and coworkers, and overall happiness of working at a particular place.
Equity Financing
The process of building startup capital by selling off equity, or ownership, in your company.
Employee Engagement Survey
A survey conducted to measure the engagement of a company's employees. We suggest conducting one at least once per year.
Family Meetings
A weekly Monday meeting of every supervisor at Perfect Plain Brewing Company where we discuss the previous week, consider what's coming up, and synergize our efforts.
