In his 1972 hit “Burning Love,” Elvis Presley sings of the inflammatory nature of romance: “Girl, girl, girl, You’re gonna set me on fire, My brain is flaming, I don’t which way to go”. An equally inflammatory love affair between Donald Trump and angry rightwing populists in America lit a fire that almost burned down democratic republican government in the United States. On January 6, 2021, Trump told his followers “which way to go” – to the US Capitol to overthrow the 2020 election.
