Introduction
At the time of writing this chapter, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is well into its second year; a cost of living crisis is pushing more and more families into poverty; adverse weather events demonstrate the harsh realities of climate change; and experts are publishing ever more urgent warnings about the potentially adverse consequences of artificial intelligence. Such topics have critical implications for individuals, organizations, and society, yet rarely feature in articles and discussions in either “mainstream” or “critical” studies of leadership.
