Small f-Stop/High ISO
PROS: Fastest option
CONS: Sacrifice image quality (higher noise and shallow DOF)
Your second option for lighting up dark places is lowering the f stop and raising the ISO. This is my least favorite option because it sacrifices image quality for time. If you go to all of the trouble of getting into an abandoned building, you might as well walk away with shots you’re proud of and ones that are printable. Although we don’t always have all of the time in the world in these places, I’ll still give you an example of how to use this method because something is better than nothing:
1. Set your camera to f/4, 30 seconds in Manual mode.
2. Point your flashlight at your subject and focus accordingly.
