A sense of depth is critical in UrbEx photography. Your viewers want to feel a sense of scale in the scene you’re offering. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, including through the use of bokeh, lens distortion, and vantage point. Note that adding depth can also create some great leading lines, which you can use to achieve the Dutch angle and golden triangle compositions mentioned earlier. You can also use depth to further highlight your subject by pushing away elements you don’t want to be prevalent in a scene.
