I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Upgrading VMware Tools
Once the hypervisor has been upgraded, you can start migrating virtual machines on the machine; but not everything has been upgraded to Version 5.5 yet. VMware Tools running inside the virtual machines can be upgraded as well to get the most out of the new hypervisor. The virtual machines, however, can continue to run with the older version of VMware Tools.
VMware Tools include the following:
- VMware device drivers for the virtual machine hardware
- The VMware Tools control panel
- A VMware balloon driver (
memctl)
