Installing the Update Manager Download Service
The Update Manager Download Service (UMDS) comes in handy when the Update Manger server doesn't have access to the Internet to download patches.
In this section, we will learn how to install Update Manager Download Service.
UMDS 5.5 should be installed on a 64-bit machine only. It cannot be installed on the same machine running vSphere Update Manager and it is only compatible with Update Manager 5.5.
If UMDS 5.5 is being installed on a machine running an older version of UMDS (UMDS 4.x or UMDS 5.x), then the older version should be uninstalled before installing UMDS 5.5.
