So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Deleting a vSphere Standard Switch
When you choose to delete a vSwitch in a production environment, make sure that the virtual machines have been reconfigured to use a port group on another vSwitch, which would provide them with network access.
How to do it…
A vSwitch can be deleted either from the vSphere Web Client GUI or by using the esxcli command.
Using the vSphere Web Client
The following procedure explains how to delete a vSwitch by using the vSphere Web Client:
- Select the ESXi host from the inventory and navigate to Manage | Networking | Virtual switches.
- Select the vSwitch to be deleted and click on the delete (X) icon to remove the vSwitch from the ESXi host:
