It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Creating Network Resource Pools on a VDS
Much like with the compute resources of an ESXi cluster, you can use resource pools on a VDS to configure Shares, Bandwidth Limitation, and Quality of Service (QoS) values. Such resource pools are referred to as Network Resource Pools (NRP). The vSphere feature that enables the use of Network Resource Pools is called Network I/O Control. There are two types of Network Pools, namely System Network Pools and User-defined Network Pools. In this recipe, we will learn how to create a User-defined Network Pool.

Network I/O Control is Enabled by default when you create a VDS. If you had chosen to disable it at the time of creation, then you should enable NIOC to make use of the Network Pools. NIOC ...
