I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring VM monitoring
vSphere HA can be configured to monitor virtual machines, so that unresponsive VMs can be restarted (reset). This is achieved by enabling VM monitoring on the HA cluster.
You can also enable application monitoring. This will restart a VM if the VMware Tools application heartbeats are not received within a predefined timeout value.
How to do it...
The following procedure describes how to configure VM monitoring on an HA cluster:
- From the vCenter's Home inventory, navigate to the Hosts and Clusters view.
- Select the cluster and navigate to Manage | Settings | vSphere HA, and click on Edit.
- In the Edit Cluster Settings window, click on VM Monitoring to expand and view its additional settings.
