Usability of WebGL Applications

22.1 Introduction
Computer graphics has reached the point where 3D models can be rendered, oen in real
time on commodity desktop and mobile devices, at a delity that is almost indistinguish-
able from the real thing. anks to WebGL it is now possible to use 3D models rather
than2D images to represent various objects on the web.
Nevertheless, 3D is still not as smoothly integrated in the everyday web experience as
images or video. We argue that one of the reasons for this situation is the fact that the cur-
