I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Main types of themes
As mentioned before, there are two main types of themes--free themes and premium (paid) themes. Also, if you don't consider price being a factor here, we can also divide themes into four additional groups--standard themes, child themes, starter themes, and theme frameworks.
- Child themes: We will discuss this in detail in the next chapters, so, for now, let's say that a child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality of another theme--the parent.
- Standard themes: These are themes meant to work in their original form while allowing some basic customizations and tuning up (just like the default theme--Twenty Seventeen).
