So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Building a theme with a framework
The main advantage of this approach is its time efficiency and the quality of the final result. For instance, if you're building a theme from scratch, you have to make sure to keep your theme up-to-date long after the development process has been finished. The thing is that WordPress gets updated very frequently (around once every 50 days), and many features change their purpose over time and get completely erased or replaced with new ones. In such a scenario, only modern themes that are kept up-to-date can take full advantage of these features. Updating your theme will obviously take a massive amount of work.
