This book is about learning organizations and learning culture. It investigates and explores what a learning culture looks and feels like. The expression ‘learning culture’ is thrown around a bit too glibly sometimes, so I have tried to pin it down (see Chapter 1). Talking to individuals, exploring companies and reading widely led me to define a learning culture in terms of four fundamental components, as I described in Chapter 1. Each one has to be present if that culture is to really work for the individual and for the organization.
