MQTT is the most common data messaging protocol associated with IoT. It is supported by all the major cloud infrastructure providers (AWS, Microsoft, and Google). And it is most likely the protocol that is being used to deliver your data. It was designed for minimal power loss and minimal bandwidth requirements.
