It is still astounding that many, if not most, leadership teams have a limited understanding of the importance of a coherent people strategy to business success. The greatest concern is that in an economy where human capital or people are the foundation of value creation, little new thinking is taking place. It has been shown that up to 80 per cent of business value derives from intangible assets such as brand, relationships, design, intellectual property and an ability to innovate (Skroupa, 2017).
