
Conversion between digital and analogue
circuit actually works (or by practical experiment of
course!). The role of the op-amp in this case is to act as
a unity gain buffer between the converter output and the
analogue controller.
It should be obvious that there is little in either of the
above circuits to limit their speeds. In fact, it is gener-
ally true that digital-to-analogue conversions are virtually
instantaneous and the limitations in the system lie in the
often slow speeds of the analogue-to-digital converters.
