When we were first presented with the opportunity
to create this book, it seemed perfectly obvious that
it would be a collaboration between a designer and
an editor. We first met in 2005, as an editor (Sue) and
art director/designer (Juliette) for RES magazine, a
publication that, over its decade of existence, moved
from covering the world of digital filmmaking to a more
general magazine that covered music, art, film, video,
and new media. The magazine’s edge was that it came
