I hope it goes without saying that we all need to look to our own behaviour – put our own houses in order – and that is what assertive behaviour choice is all about. It’s learning to recognize and deal with your own negative feelings in an appropriate way. As we’ve seen, there will be times when accepting, accommodating or aggressive behaviour is appropriate but, increasingly, as you feel more at ease with assertive behaviour, you will naturally opt for the assertive approach.
