Digital Drawing
The art tools used to create and communicate a stage designer’s visual idea have changed radically within the span of a generation. New digital drawing tools are widespread in all fields of theatrical design as well as many fields of art. These digital tools are new to us not having undergone centuries of gradual development. Using today’s digital tools requires learning the tool itself as well as how to draw or paint. It also means that digital tools can (and they will) change significantly from year to year. Pencils have changed little in my career; however, I cannot say the same for the software I use.
