It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Digital Drawing Exercise Five: Painting an Architectural Scenic Elevation from a Line Drawing
This exercise takes a line drawing of a unit of architecture and uses Photoshop to create a scenic paint elevation. It requires a black and white or grayscale line drawing in a digital format. Basic Photoshop brush and selections skills are required knowledge for this exercise. The techniques practiced in this exercise include basic and intermediate painting and multiple selection techniques.
