Nanoparticulate Systems for Therapeutic and Diagnostic Applications
Abstract
Nanoparticle technology has been in the forefront of nanomedicine and innovative healthcare devices. Although the concept is not new, the advances in biomaterials and the equipment necessary to produce such small particles have renewed enthusiasm in the area of drug delivery using such particles. This chapter presents a critical review on the state of the art in production, evaluation, and the use of rigid and nonrigid nanoparticulate systems as potential carriers for therapeutic and diagnostic agents.
