When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Setting up ThingsBoard
For this chapter, we are not going to set up an instance on our local machine; instead we are going to use the live demo instance:
- Head over to https://demo.thingsboard.io/signup and sign up for a new account, if you don't already have one.
- Now that we are logged in, click on DEVICES from the side menu. Once we are on the Devices page, we should see a bunch of pre-configured devices for us. We are not going to use any of them; instead we are going to create one of our own.
- Using the + sign in the bottom right-hand corner, we will create a new device.
- Fill in the new device form as shown:
