You Can’t Ignore It; How Can You Embrace It?

In April 2019, Sainsbury’s opened its first cash-free store in Holborn Circus, London. It was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, ahead of other grocers and their nemesis, Amazon.com. At the tech-heavy convenience store, shoppers can scan the items they wish to buy with their phones, drop them into a cart, and be charged on the way out, no human attendants or cash registers required.
