Going live on a broadcast channel
Originally launched in February 2023 to a limited number of creators, broadcast channels were developed as a way for people to send a one-to-many direct message out. As of June 2024, broadcast channels are now available on a more global scale to everyone with a creator account.
A creator can send messages, questions, voice notes, links, photos, and polls to members on the broadcast channel. Members can’t send messages to the channel, though they can vote and react to messages the creator sends. Creators can only send messages to followers who have joined their channels. There is currently no fee to start or join a broadcast channel.
A benefit to a broadcast channel is that it delivers content directly to followers and is not affected by the algorithm showing your content wherever it decides. If someone is subscribed to your broadcast channel, they’ll see your content.
