I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Gitaly
Regarding Gitaly, you can control some of its timings here. If Gitaly is being slow, you'll want it to time out for certain requests, because otherwise the operation can bring down the whole GitLab instance. Since Gitaly is the interface to the repositories, think of filesystems or nodes not responding. Very bad things can happen when locks occur or when network issues prevent data transfers. It's better to know when to cut the cord.
