Web IDE
As of GitLab 10.4, an enhanced web editor is available in GitLab that gives you the ability to work on code online from the web. It offers many different features, including syntax highlighting for the most common languages (PHP, Ruby, Shell, Python, Java, C) and markup languages (XML, Markdown, and HTML). It is based on the Monaco editor which you can find here: https://microsoft.github.io/monaco-editor/.
The Event Horizon company can also develop their software in the Web IDE. It, of course, has support for Ruby, the language in which GitLab is mostly written.
