Release Modes

The Release mode controls whether the shutter is released once or multiple times when the shutter-release button is pressed. This mode also allows you to add a delay and it controls how the optional Nikon ML-L3 remote controls the shutter. You can choose from the following six options, all of which can be accessed by pressing the Release mode button (release.eps) on the back of the camera:

Single-frame shooting mode (singleframe.eps ). In this mode, the camera takes a single photo each time the shutter-release button is pressed. It makes no difference how long you hold the shutter-release button—until you let it go and press it again, it only takes one frame. This is a good option when shooting static subjects, such as landscapes, portraits, or still life. It is also good when using a flash because the flash has a chance to recycle and fire again.

Continuous shooting mode (continuousservoaf.eps ). In the Continuous shooting mode (continuousservoaf.eps), the camera takes up to a 100 photos in a row each time the shutter-release button is pressed (and there is enough space on the memory card). This mode is great for capturing sequences ...
