So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Scene Modes
To help you get the best results when photographing, the Nikon D3200 has six scene modes that not only try to pick the best exposure settings for certain types of images, but also automatically adjust the other settings on your camera. You can select any of these modes quickly by rotating the Mode dial to the corresponding icon.
Portrait
The Portrait mode (
) is meant to be used when photographing people. The camera adjusts the color to produce softer, more natural skin tones. It also tries to use a shallow depth of field (depending on the distance of the subject from the camera and the lens attached) so that the background is pleasantly blurred and the subject stands out. The following are the settings that the camera uses in Portrait mode ():
