It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Normally the instructions are executed sequentially. But logic demands that the next instruc-
tion to be executed need not necessarily be the next in line, but can be branched to any other
statement as per logic of the algorithms. These are called branching statements. The branching
can either be conditional or unconditional.
