3.12.4 Switch and Case Statements

The switch statement is similar to the if–else–if ladder we have used in the previous section.

The syntax is switch

(var) { case value1 : statements1 : break;

case value2 : statements2 : break;

default : statements3; // this statement is optional

}

Note that var has to be integer and value has to be an integer constant. Observe also that
