Primo Lens Data — Zoom Lens Tables and Graphs
From the tables and graphs below the distinct design differences between a wide angle, an extended range and a telephoto type zoom lens are highlighted.
With the 17.5 - 75mm, wide angle type the entrance pupil remains fairly constant making it an ideal zoom lens to use where zooming and nodal panning must be combined.
With the 11:1, 24 - 275mm, extended range type the lens is much longer with the entrance pupil starting off about 12 inches in front of the focal plane and finishing up 10 inches behind.
The 3:1,135 - 420mm, telephoto type zoom lens is different again. The entrance pupil starts off 11 inches behind the focal plane and finishes off somewhere behind the camera operator’s head.
