As you'll remember, the ins and outs of creating type in Photoshop were covered back in Chapter 13. In this chapter, you'll take what you already know about type a step further by learning to combine layer styles with type layers to create some eye-catching effects. The beauty of these techniques is that in most cases, as long as you save your files in a format that supports layers, such as PSD or TIFF, these effects will remain editable so you can always go back and make changes whenever necessary.
The focus of this chapter is on creating text effects, but you can definitely take the concepts you learn here and apply them to any kind of layer content.
