So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
6Site and Equipment Grounding
6.1 Requirements
The grounding system must provide reliable and safe means of equipment grounding in order to
- Provide a low resistance path for the dissipation of ground fault currents, lightning, and switching surges into the earth without exceeding any operating and equipment limits.
- Minimize the ground potential rise (GPR) between the equipment and the soil within safe limits throughout the site for the protection of the operating personnel and equipment.
- Provide a reasonably uniform potential rise in all parts of the plant to minimize the step and touch potentials throughout the plant for the protection of the plant personnel.
- Properly channel the ground fault and unbalanced currents to reduce electrical noise in the communication and data cables. ...
