22.1 Plant Fire Protection System

Fire detection and fire suppression systems are comprehensive protection systems for industrial and power plants. As a fully integrated system spread over a wide area, it includes fire detection, notification, and suppression. This is a “mechanical project” with substantial participation by the electrical engineers through the detection and notification and later as commissioning engineers they take charge of it to prove the system performance.

The following specific fire protection systems may be employed in an industrial or a power plant:
